You would have to grind/shave down the ice balls that this tray makes for them to look like the pictures. I tried making ice without filling up the top cover and with the top cover filled with water (to see if I could get a better seal and better looking ice balls), and both times the ice had a large seam/ring around the middle plus a little nub on top where you put the water in. I don't think the value is very good - you only get one tray, and it doesn't make very pretty ice. Also, the ice is not very big, which is fine if you want to put it in a water bottle, but if you're using it for cocktails, they're not much bigger than regular freezer ice cubes. A funnel is included for filling.I think I overfilled the tray a bit at first because the top lifted/floated a bit. I set the filled tray on a flat package in my freezer, then put another flat package on top. Realizing that the water would expand as it froze, I thought surrounding packages might encourage the expansion toward the top of the spheres, rather than to separate the parts and push out at the sides of the cells.It worked; these turned out great!
